Engine Co. 2 - 1937 Ahrens Fox

Our original 1937 Ahrens Fox was a closed cab Model YC, and featured a rotary gear pump. There are perhaps three of these Model YC's left in the country today. The apparatus saw service with DFD from 1937 to 1965. It was sold to Shelton, CT's fire department and stationed at Pine Rock Park Station #4 serving as Engine 41. Today, she is used as their muster truck.

The below photos include the 1937 Fox located outside the town's elemntary school (now Town Hall), and were shot in 1943. In these photos byFrederick R Rose, Ed Watrus can be seen standing beside the truck. In the photo of the Fox pumping (taken by Frederick R Rose), DFD member Oliver Summerton can be seen at the pump panel in 1937; he was later shot during WW2 in the Pacific, losing his leg.
